Why Jefferson Elementary School?

“Making Connections that Count” because we want everything we do to be meaningful and relevant towards your child’s future. We know that relationships, relevance, and rigor are the three keys to connecting a well-educated child with a productive future.

Dedicated Staff

Families choose to come here because we are known for having a dedicated staff that will stop at nothing to ensure your child’s educational success.

Collaboration
FRA

We also share our school with Fox River Academy – The Appleton Area School district’s environmental charter school.

Character Education

As a PBIS school (positive behaviors, interventions, and support) we teach character education lessons weekly based on behavioral data to proactively ensure a safe, respectful and responsible school climate.

Recognition

Along with Fox River Academy, we are one of 64 schools in the United States recognized as a Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This award recognizes our environmental stewardship, student and staff health, and sustainability education. We demonstrate how environmental education gets students engaged in their studies, keeps students and faculty healthy and fit, and provides a natural link to the careers of the future.

Innovation

Jefferson has a scheduling model where we allow time for students to receive daily enrichment or review which we call WIN time (What I Need). This model also allows time for grade level teachers to meet together to plan and assess successful class lessons.

In line with our environmental focus, at lunch we aim to recycle, compost or properly dispose of every item that enters our lunchroom.

Assessment Wall

Grade level teachers, the building principal, reading specialist, and student services personnel all collaborate about the effectiveness of interventions and enrichment of all students by using an Assessment Wall.

A School by the Park - Pierce Park

As our school song says, “We’re the School with a Spark by the Park,” we hope to enlighten our children to be beacons of hope in their world and with all whom they meet. We want them to know that we are their educational home where they have teachers and staff who will stand by and guide their learning every minute that they are here.

School/Business Partnerships

Community First Credit Union and the Appleton Area School District have been working together since 1996 on a collaborative effort to address educating our students in the area of financial literacy. This innovative school/business partnership led to the development and introduction of a unique education program to provide ongoing financial education and hands-on learning opportunities for district students at the elementary, middle and high schools.
